It started with a question that's not easily brushed aside. The daughter of founder Wouter asked what they could do about dying bees. The answer became De Bijenbaas: a social apiary that sells honey and helps bee colonies survive at the same time.

The honey itself is raw and cold-spun, so the flavour and valuable compounds stay intact. No heating, no detours - just what the bees made, straight into the jar.

For every jar sold, De Bijenbaas creates one square metre of new nature. That principle works here in the city too: from the Domtoren to the last meadows on the edge of Utrecht, bees benefit from blooming spots.
