Join the Pipe: the Utrecht City Bottle that funds water projects
13 August 2026 · 3 min read
Since 2010, this social enterprise has cut plastic waste with refillable bottles - funding clean water projects worldwide.
Join the Pipe started in 2010 with a simple idea for a big problem: fewer plastic bottles, more clean water. The solution lies in refillable bottles and public water taps instead of single-use plastic.
Every bottle sold contributes to water projects worldwide. A refillable bottle sitting on a desk in Utrecht funds a well or a tap somewhere else that wouldn't exist without that project.
For our boxes, Join the Pipe developed the Utrecht City Bottle: a bottle that carries the city on its side while showing you're choosing less waste over more.
It's a gift your colleague uses again and again - at the office water tap, on the way to a meeting, cycling along the Vecht.
Few products in our boxes stay in use as long as this bottle. That makes it one of the most sustainable choices you can make for a Christmas hamper.
