Menno Boere / Cut.spul: the Dom tower on your Christmas tree
4 August 2026 · 3 min read
Laser-cut wooden Dom baubles that literally give the Domstad a place among the branches.
There are plenty of baubles in the world, but few that bring Utrecht's skyline into the living room. Under the name Cut.spul, Menno Boere makes exactly that: laser-cut wooden Christmas ornaments shaped like the Domtoren.
The process is as precise as the result looks simple. Every layer of wood is cut exactly so the Dom's silhouette stays recognisable, even when the ornament is barely ten centimetres tall.
While most Christmas decorations are anonymous, this ornament gives a city back to the tree. For anyone who lives in, works in or grew up in Utrecht, that's not decoration but a small moment of recognition.
In our Speelklok Box, that fits perfectly with the theme: a hamper built around music, craft and the festive season, with an ornament you can literally hang on the tree.
Small, wooden and distinctly Utrecht - the kind of detail that makes a Christmas hamper feel that bit more personal.
